Token

Why did they do it?

It was heartbreaking, then evil, then intensely curious...

Did they all truly seek my affection?

Was this some cruel joke?

Track practice? No, they came and went at their own leisure...

At the time I was totally bewildered. How could each of these women have seen and interpreted my little poem? I knew it was probably bullshit, but I couldn't help letting it touch a special place deep in my heart. Empathy. If for me, they were acting on the slightest minute possibility. It was an act in futility if not for the impossible strand of imagination that connected us...oh, what dangerous ground they marched upon. In each stride I saw the same brutal struggle I faced. They pushed the limits of reality by performing a feat of incomprehensible irrationality. It was love, in a way, or at least shared many distinct characteristics.

Had these women spontaneously appeared to gain my affection? In our world, a man who could accept such an outrageous thing would be a fool...so plainly a fool, that no one could possibly believe it. To respond so confidently and dramatically to a couple lines of text was completely unbelievable.

I understood that the girls knew this.

It was precisely why it could work.
